The 12,000 plus solar
panels in the complex will rotate to capture the sun's ray…and will
provide 40 per cent of the energy for the three million square foot
complex.
KEVIN JOHNSON:"Three, two, one

The event was part ribbon-cutting ceremony, part courtship
ritual. Cunhui Nan made the trip from China. Nan is CEO of
Chint Astronergy. His company made the solar cells in use
here. And now rather than only manufacturing those cells in
China, Nan is exploring opening plants in the U.S. And th

at would mean thousands
of jobs.
CUNHUI NAN: "I think that the existing scale that we have,
that would require four to five thousand employees."
Nan is considering Sacramento as a possible site. Mayor Kevin
Johnson says that Chint Astronergy would be welcome here.
KEVIN JOHNSON: "The green space is
our opportunity to be a leader. And I made a pitch in front of him,
I said look we would love for you to come to Sacramento and bring
your manufacturing plant too."
Don't count on those 5,000 green jobs in Sacramento just yet.
Several cities in California are lobbying the Chinese company. But
officials said Nan's presence here is promising.
