Ron Burkle - co-owner of hockey's Pittsburgh Penguins, and Darius Anderson - a developer and lobbyist, have come forward with a plan to either buy the Sacramento Kings from owners Joe and Gavin Maloof…or buy another team and relocate it to Sacramento.
That plan was put forth by Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson yesterday as he made his case to the NBA's top leadership to keep the Kings in the capital city.
Kings owners Joe and Gavin Maloof are considering a move to Anaheim and must file a relocation application with the league by Monday. The league's owners are meeting in New York, and Johnson arrived yesterday to make a presentation in front of them.
Johnson also stressed the viability of the Sacramento market to the owners and reminded them of the Kings' success in the city over the last 26 years.
