NBA Relocation Committee Chairman, Clay Bennett was in town to see if what Mayor Kevin Johnson said last week about 7 million dollars in local business sponsorships being pledged was true.
MAYOR KEVIN JOHNSON: "We overachieved our goal with 9 point 2 million dollars, which is incredible."
The Mayor and several local business owners met Bennett.
Johnson said there was some positive energy in the room.
MAYOR KEVIN JOHNSON: "I can tell you the NBA delegation
has seen the best of Sacramento. So, I'm very proud as the
mayor of this community."
The Sacramento Metro Chamber says more pledged money is on the
way from a number of small businesses.
Bennett also met with Tim Romani from the ICON Taylor Group in
the afternoon to discuss the latest on the group's feasibility
study for a new sports and entertainment complex.
The Kings' owners, the Maloofs have until May 2nd to
officially ask the NBA's permission to move the team.
