They're calling it the "Stockton is Magnificent" rally. Denise Jefferson is one of the organizers.
"We're going crazy here trying to get everything ready for all of our guests. The street's been closed down and we have all the booths set up."
The booths will be staffed by various community groups. There'll also be two stages with entertainment. And a crane will be used to lift a photographer above the event to take a group picture that'll be sent to Forbes.
Jefferson says the magazine's "miserable" ranking has prompted many Stocktonians to do volunteer work, like cleaning up parks.
"It's a hard time for everyone and Stockton of course was hit very hard by the foreclosures and the unemployment rate. But people here are proud and they want the rest of the nation to know that - we are not miserable."
Pacific Avenue will be closed from Castle to Maple for the rally. The four-hour event starts Saturday at 10 AM.
