Richard Markel is with the Sacramento chapter of the Association for Wedding Professionals. He says it's been a rough couple of years for the industry as people tighten their budgets.
"The differences are the number of guests being invited to the wedding and more destination weddings where it's going to cost them less."
Cost them less because most people don't RSVP for out-of-town weddings and that means fewer guests.
Markel says it's still too soon to tell if the Prince William/Kate Middleton wedding will inspire more people to take the plunge. But he says a lot of brides are thinking the same thing.
"'I want to look like Kate did.' She may want to emulate the flowers that were used or what the cake will be like. That'll be good for business."
Good for business because it leads people to splurge a little more.
Markel says the wedding of William's parents - Prince Charles and Lady Diana - was one of the best things to ever happen to the wedding industry.
