Marc Feldman is the orchestra's executive director and CEO. He says their musicians will be going into schools that don't offer music programs such as band or orchestra.
"They teach them instruments but they also teach them about singing about rhythm. Every kid gets a recorder but we go beyond that. We also teach them about different aspects of classical music."
Under the program, musicians from the orchestra will visit schools in three districts: Sacramento City, San Juan and Twin Rivers. The kids will also get to attend a classical music concert at the end of the year.
The curriculum was created by Carnegie Hall as part of an nationwide educational outreach series called "Orchestra Rocks".
