Another Tornado Hits Region

Weather service forecaster Mike Smith says the team will verify that it was actually a tornado by looking at where the debris is.

"If it's all in the same direction it probably wasn't a tornado but if the debris is scattered in various directions then they can verify that it was. And then once they do that they assess the damage itself and the level of destruction and from that they can assess the wind speed and from that they can get the scale of the tornado."

The tornado formed as a powerful rainstorm whipped through the area yesterday around 5:30 PM. No injuries or damage were reported.

Besides the tornado, three-quarter inch hail was reported during the storm in the Folsom area, east of Sacramento.

Yesterday's twister struck not far from where three tornadoes touched down last week, destroying hundreds of acres of almond orchards.
