Governor Jerry Brown signed the bill into law about a week ago.  It requires social science instruction to include the historical contributions of those in the LGBT community.  A coalition of groups that call themselves pro-family is working to put a referendum on the ballot next year to ask voters to weigh in.  They've filed the paperwork with the Attorney General's office.  In a statement, Brad Dacus with the Pacific Justice Institute says the law revises history to please a special interest group. The coalition will have about three months to gather more than 500-thousand signatures to put the measure on the ballot.  Supporters of the new law say excluding the contributions of LGBT Americans gives students an incomplete view of the world.
