Director and Founder, Richard Neault (pronounced NAWLT) says he figured someone had to start preserving the county's artifacts.

NEAULT: "There's over 160 years of history in Yuba County and nobody really knows anything about it. One reason is because there's no single entity dedicated to preserving and educating people about that history."

Now, Neault says he is about to move his museum into an actual building.  He signed a lease this week with the owners of the old Tower Theater in Marysville.  He says several locals want to donate their small artifacts.  He hopes to add those pieces to a life-size model of a giant dredge used to create the Panama Canal.  The dredge was built in Yuba County in 1915.

Neault hopes to open the museum's doors in October.
