Governor Brown signed legislation that bans the import,
production and sale of caffeinated beer beverages in
California.
They're sold under brand names like Four Loko.
Supporters of the ban say the caffeine masks the alcohol content.
Brown also signed a bill that restricts judges and juries in
the state from convicting someone based solely on the testimony of
a jailhouse informant.
Additionally, the Governor okayed a measure that's intended to
provide more protection for domestic violence victims. It
allows courts to issue restraining orders for up to 10 years in
more cases.
Brown also vetoed a few bills, including one that would
have banned the practice of paying initiative signature-gatherers
based on the number of signatures they round up.
