Fresh and Easy CEO Tim Mason says they will put six stores with healthy food in Sacramento-area neighborhoods. Those are places other markets typically won't go, "Fresh and Easy Products, which have no colors, no flavors, no preservatives, no additives. It puts those right in the neighborhood. And when they are close at hand, people make more use of the service. And of course, they're affordable."
The stores also guarantee health care benefits for all employees who want to work more than 20 hours a week. Mason says each store should create 330 construction and retail jobs. Joany Titherington lives in Oak Park and says such a store is needed, "It's a food desert, so this really affords accessibility to food in an area that doesn't have much."
The Rogers Family Coffee Company is from Lincoln and is providing the coffee sold in Fresh and Easy stores. All six stores should be open next year.
