One would have increased the penalties for Californians who
text or talk on a hand-held phone while driving. Another
would have required kids under 18 to wear helmets while skiing or
snowboarding the state's slopes. A third was intended to curb
protests at military funerals. Additionally, the Governor
vetoed a measure that would have required paid signature gatherers
to wear buttons identifying the fact that they weren't working for
free. Brown also signed a number of bills,
including one that allows apartment landlords to ban smoking in
their buildings. He also signed legislation that requires all
U-C, C-S-U and community college auxiliaries and foundations to
comply with state public records law.

California Governor Jerry Brown has acted on a host of bills, covering issues that range from cell phones to ski helmets. Governor Brown vetoed several bills that have gotten a lot of attention.
