Prices were flat between May and August. Alex Villacorta is with home-price tracking firm Clear Capital, which released the numbers.
"The one saving grace in all of this is that even though California, especially the markets of Sacramento, Modesto and Stockton, didn't see the seasonal bump, one interesting feature that we have observed is that they haven't seen any real change, neither up nor down over the last two years."
Villacorta says prior to those two-years, all three of those markets saw dramatic price declines…by more than 65% in some areas.
Nationwide, the Midwest region leads the rest of the country with a seasonal quarterly home price gain of 7.3%.
In Sacramento, home prices are 9.8% lower than they were a year ago.
