Most people think of Benicia as an oil refining town. And historically it has been. But mayor, Elizabeth Patterson says by landing CODA, she expects the city to attract other green companies.
(PATTERSON): "If you build it they will come . We have done lots of outreach for businesses that will gather and build around Coda. There are lots of opportunities for secondary services around Coda, there are advanced research opportunities."
Fifty workers will perform the final assembly of the five passenger electric sedans in Benicia. The first cars are supposed to role off the line by December. The company says it will produce 10 to 14,000 zero emission vehicles by the end of 2012. The sticker price… about 45 thousand dollars.
