The city has held its first meeting on the project, called a scoping meeting. There, the city lays out the preliminary plan for the arena and accepts public comment.
An environmental review has already been completed of the neighboring transit facility called the Intermodal. Desmond Parrington coordinates in-fill projects for the city. He says much of the information in that review can be used for the arena's review. He also says a new arena does rearrange some of the intermodal project's priorities.
PARRINGTON: "The difference here is that rather than the full development building out over time, and that infrastructure being phased in and paid for over time, the entertainment sports complex will likely require that some of that infrastructure be built sooner.
The public comment deadline for this stage of the arena process is October 31st.
