The controversial location for the 200-thousand-square-foot hub is on Bureau of Reclamation land next to Nimbus Dam.
Sacramento County Supervisor Susan Peters says the project is contrary to the American River Parkway Master Plan.
PETERS: "The City of Sacramento has sent a resolution and the city of Rancho Cordova and both of our area congresspersons, Lungren and Matsui, and most of our local assemblymen have sent letters to the Water Resources Department at the state objecting to the location."
The bureau's Pete Lucero says Nimbus really has been given no priority over the two alternate locations in Rancho Cordova and Mather Field. The important thing, he says, is that the local flood and water agencies are under the same roof.
LUCERO: "It's necessary because we have daily interactions, particularly during wintertime and flood season where we have to be sure that all of our ducks are in the same row."
