Drive a Nissan Leaf to San Francisco. Want to charge it for the return trip to Sacramento. Better not be in a hurry. A full charge could take eight hours. But there is a new charger on the way that is going to change that. The fast chargers can do the job in around twenty minutes.
HELSEL "What is really great is as these fast charging units
proliferate, it means that your going to have a lot more mobility
with your electric vehicle."
Kristen Helsel is vice president of California based
AeroVironment, which helped design the charger. It has a price tag
of around 9,900 dollars. The first chargers are being tested in
Houston and should be available in the California market in early
2012.
