Though they can't undress a person, the new Advance Imaging Technology (A.I.T.) machines at the airport can see under clothing. Deputy Jason Ramos with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department says one man is now in jail because of what was under his clothes.
RAMOS: "He had two bags of a substance that test positive for crystal methamphetamine basically concealed in some spandex compression shorts that he was wearing."
Nico Melendez with the Transportation Security Administration says the machines are there to spot weapons and explosives. Drugs are a bonus.
MELENDEZ: "It's a computer-generated image. It's a generic image for every passenger. But, any kind of anomaly, something hidden on somebody's torso or in their pockets will show up as a yellow, highlighted box. And, it allows us to know where we need to do a targeted patdown."
The man was arrested Monday…a day after an x-ray machine detected a gun and ammunition in a carry-on bag.
