The ads show people skiing, sledding, dining out and gambling all to a mid-tempo song with lyrics about searching for and finding an idyllic spot.

"We're using some vintage-looking videography, tapping into that quaint, old fashioned Tahoe getaway."

Bethany Drysdale is with the Nevada Commission on Tourism. She says the winter sports push is focusing on Northern California to catch people who want to vacation close to home.

"People are taking more trips but they're shorter in length. So we're heavily marketing Lake Tahoe during the winter because it's the perfect weekend getaway from Sacramento."

The campaign runs through February 12th and also targets people in the Bay Area, Southern California, Utah and Arizona.

The tourism commission is funded by a portion of the state lodging tax and not by the Nevada general fund.
