Sacramento's homeless are getting support from a large bank and two members of the city council.  Tuesday morning, Mayor Kevin Johnson accepted a check for $75,000 from Wells Fargo to extend the time the winter shelter will be able to stay open.  David Galasso is with Wells Fargo.

GALASSO: "So many of us take warm shelter and safe shelter and warm meal every day for granted and there are so many peoplehere  to whom it's a luxury they can't afford."

Tonight, the homeless campground on the American River will be on the city council's agenda.  Councilman Jay Schenirer says the new data on the homeless shows a different population in need of help.

SCHENIRER: "These are individuals -many of whom do have alcohol and drug problems, many have mental health problems- but many are just homeless because of the circumstances of this economy and they shouldn't be punished for that."

Johnson says creating a space for transitional housing "is not that complicated."  He and Schenirer repeated their pleas for the city council to move forward on the issue.
