The same storm system that dumped heavy snowfall in Seattle is coming this way. Johnny Powell is with the National Weather Service office in Sacramento.
"We haven't had a major system since around Thanksgiving. As a matter of fact, since Thanksgiving it's only rained about three hours in 47 days."
Powell says winter his half-over…so we've got some catching up to do.
"It'll be hard to get back to normal since officially we're past the half-way mark. Like running a race, if you didn't start until the other person was half done. But we're just glad to have some type of normal winter by now."
Powell says Sacramento could get up to about two-inches of rain by Monday. He says the higher elevations of the Sierra…around 6,000 feet…could get up to a foot of snow over the next few days. The Lake Tahoe area will also have gusty winds.
Powell say rain and snow will stick around into next week.
