Thirteen businesses have submitted their qualifications to take over parking from the city. That leaves only a month until the March 1st deadline when the owners of the Sacramento Kings could file to move the team. Mayor Kevin Johnson says he is hopeful the financing plan they present will be enough.
JOHNSON: "I would love for the city, the NBA, AEG, ICON TAYLOR, the Maloofs, all of us to have a term sheet that lays out the financing plan that everyone feels relatively comfortable enough that the Kings would not file for relocation on March 1st."
Johnson says he hopes city staff will have a short list of candidates by February 14th. Last year, the NBA Board of Governors gave the city a year to come up with a plan to build a new arena, or lose the team.
