Hindu leader Rajan Zed is directing the effort. He's with the Nevada Clergy Association. Zed says finding the time to visit a place of worship is tough for many students.

"So if their chapel is right there on the campus they can just go there and pray."

Zed says an interfaith prayer room or chapel centrally located on the campus would help meet the spiritual needs of all students.

"It is open to all faiths…and a good place for dialogue."

Edwin Lyngar is with the agnostic group Reno Coalition of Reason. He says the group has no problem with people practicing their religion…

"…however, one thing that troubles us is that we don't like it when religious groups seek government favoritism whether that be money or space or resources that would not be allocated to other groups."

Rajan Zed and other religious leaders are scheduled to meet with UNR President Marc Johnson Friday morning.
