Councilman Steve Cohn presented two conceptual renderings showing the arena nestled between the Amtrak Station and the old rail yard shops.
COHN: "While we look at all those figures and crunch all of those natures and think about all the details of the financing, it's also important to keep in mind kind of a vision of how this thing's going to work and fit in with our conception of the Rail Yards."
Cosumnes River College Architecture Professor, John Ellis says the architectural trend in arena design arenas emphasizes the use of glass to attract people.
ELLIS: "For example, the Mondavi Center is located so that you can see from the highway and see people having fun there. So, it looks like it has a little bit of transparency and maybe a 360-degree view, and so it kind of serves that purpose."
Ellis says he expects quite a bit of public response requesting brick in the design to better integrate the arena with the brick buildings around it.
