As founder of the inaugural Sacramento Food Film Festival, Catherine Enfield says the goal is to educate people about what's on their plate, because there's more to food than eating it.
"We're here to let people see some of the things that are happening in food politics, I guess, in agriculture, farming, nutrition, and let them form their own opinions," Enfield says.
The film "Farmeggedon" is about closures of family farms. "Dive" is about people who dumpster dive for food scraps…also known as freegans.
In fact, Enfield says, "The underlying message of the film is about food waste," particularly from grocery stores.
The food films will screen all day. During breaks, concessions will feature catered organic snacks and offerings from food trucks.
