Gas Price Increase Slows Temporarily

California gas prices have jumped 51 cents over the past month.  The average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded is four dollars and 36 cents.  Matt Skryja  with Triple-A says, believe it or not, the price isn't going up like it was:

Skryja: "The increases that we saw a few weeks ago of multiple cents has slowed.  Now it's a little bit less, meaning that it's going to one or two cents a day - even in some cases it's close to plateauing."

Skryja says the increases have been driven in part by recent positive economic reports in the U.S. and Europe, which have spurred investors to buy more oil and gas futures.  He says demand for gas in the U.S. is actually down quite a bit - which has probably helped keep prices from going up even more.
