Two dozen Sacramento-area business owners and developers have asked the National Basketball Association to ask the Maloof family to sell the Sacramento Kings. Group members say they sent a letter to NBA Commissioner David Stern, because they are concerned the Maloofs are intentionally jeopardizing the creation of a new arena in downtown Sacramento.
John Hodgson says Sacramento could see similar benefits to those seen by the area around AT&T Park in San Francisco.
HODGSON: "This isn't an arena deal. This is an entertainment and sports complex and it could be the biggest catalyst for improving Sacramento and putting it on the map."
A statement on behalf of the Kings says the group isn't fully informed. The Maloofs say their goal is still to open the 2015 NBA season in a new arena in Sacramento.
