The downpour we've been getting in Sacramento this week has helped boost rainfall totals. Kathy Hoxsie is with the National Weather Service office in Sacramento:

"This has been a pretty active week. We've received up to 2½ inches in some areas across the valley and here in Sacramento we've received almost an inch."

That put's Sacramento rainfall totals at 66% of normal for the year. So far this month, Sacramento has received 1.46 inches of rain. The normal amount of rainfall in April is 1.3 inches. March was also above normal.

Hoxsie says these recent storms would've been bad news last year.

"If this type of rain (had) come in April of last year we probably would be facing a lot of flooding across the valley. But because we were so dry in January and February, even with a wet March, we had plenty of room to accommodate."

It'll be dry this weekend. Hoxsie says the next chance of rain will be next week…although it'll be north of Sacramento.
