Home care workers called on the Governor and lawmakers to restore a proposed $225 million cut to In-Home Supportive Services.
Instead, they're pushing a bill that would coordinate care between home care workers and health care providers.
Rebecca Malberg, with SEIU-United Health Care Workers, says that bill will save money in the long run by reducing the need for hospitalizations and nursing home care.
MALBERG "We have to fix the long-term care system because the number of people who are aging is going to double in the next 20 years in California, we don't have a system in place right now to deal with them and keep them at home, we can't afford the alternative."
