The CSU Chancellor's retirement comes as the system deals with severe budget cuts, increased student tuition and friction with faculty unions. But Chancellor Charles Reed says he's not retiring to avoid dealing with difficult issues.
The 70-year-old says over the past four years he's guided the system through more than a $1 billion in state budget cuts while addressing increased enrollment. Chancellor Reed says he'll stay on until a replacement is named by the CSU Board of Trustees.
