Festival volunteer Greg Willett says the latest name change was intended to attract a wider variety of music lovers and performers.
WILLETT: "We still have some of the best jazz music you'll hear anywhere in the country. But, we have so many other styles to offer as well. We felt changing the name would at least let the public know we're kind of an all-encompassing music festival now."
Willett says the festival has already met the goal of increasing the range of musical offerings. Fifteen new bands are scheduled to perform.
Organizers expect about 75,000 people to attend the four-day festival. More than 700 musicians from two dozen different genres are scheduled to perform in Old Town and Downtown Sacramento through Monday.
