Veterans Honored At Events Throughout Sacramento

About a dozen Memorial Day events will be held in the Sacramento area today.

In Placerville, four World War II aircraft will soar over the El Dorado County Veterans Monument.

James Denmark…a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars…is with El Dorado County's Veteran's Affairs Commission.

He says the day will also include speeches.    

"We try to keep it non-political, no political speeches or anything like that. It's strictly to honor the veterans - the ones now or the ones that are gone but not forgotten."

The Memorial Day Tribute in Placerville begins at 11 AM.

Other services being held today range from: a wreath laying at Newcastle Cemetery; a 21-gun salute at the Sacramento VA Med Center at Mather; and California National Guard bagpipers at Mount Vernon Memorial Park in Fair Oaks.
