Dennis Kauffman is the City's Accounting Manager. He says the City has 15,000 in un-cashed payments listed in its checkbook going back 20 years
KAUFFMAN: "A homeowner for example may have closed out their account and had for whatever reason a credit balance and if they didn't request a refund, then that amount, that credit balance is sitting on their account."
Also on the City's books are thousands of checks written to vendors that were never cashed.
Kauffman says the City is doing this now to clean up their books.
200 people have already made claims to money on the City's
website. There is a list there of people who are owed.
Anyone who wants to file a claim must do so by next
Monday.
