San Joaquin County's unemployment rate fell to 14 and a half percent in May thanks to the hiring of 10-thousand seasonal agricultural workers.

The cherry harvest is underway and the grape harvest is yet to come.

San Joaquin County Worknet  provides  job training and its Director John Solis says even more jobs will be coming as new manufacturing companies move in.

SOLIS: "They are opening up and these are companies that are building construction materials so that means that, you know, construction will be on the rise in the near future."

Joseph Zapata has been looking for a permanent job for over a year.

ZAPATA:   "I see it starting to open up a lot better than it was at least a year ago, or within the last couple of years. It's a lot better now, definitely."
