Pacific Staffing conducts a telephone survey of the region's top 100 employers four times a year. Researcher Rick Reed makes the calls.
"Looking ahead for the next three months, Sacramento employers are optimistic that the market will continue to grow as they have 66% of companies hiring."
Meanwhile, 34% of companies say they won't be hiring.
The number of companies hiring in the 3rd quarter -
66% - is down from 71% in the previous quarter.
Reed says - motivation for hiring between now and September
among 22% of the companies is for seasonal needs. As for the
rest…
"…42% of those who are hiring say that they're motivated
to hire for expansion of their workforce. Another 40% of Sacramento
regional employers, they're hiring only for attrition."
…such as workers retiring or leaving for other reasons.
Employers told Reed that they're looking for workers with:
sales; customer service; and computer software and hardware
skills.
