Officials announced today that the Federal Aviation Administration is awarding the airport an $8 million grant.
"We're very pleased to receive it and thank the FAA for their support."
Linda Cutler is with the airport. She says the money is the
latest installment in a series of grants the FAA has pledged for
continuing construction projects.
"The Big Build is actually still going on. Although the
buildings are finished, we are continuing to do refinements such as
the demolition of the old Terminal B, continued expansion of aprons
for overnight parking for aircraft, things like that."
The FAA has pledged $60 million in total with the last payment
due to be paid in 2015. The grants are part of the FAA's "Airport
Improvement Program."
