The Mayor 's Think Big task force will study how to attract the Oakland Athletics to Sacramento.  But, Johnson says West Sacramento and Raley Field might make the most sense.

JOHNSON: "While we're looking at the Railyards and looking at all of our options, we certainly know front-and-center of these discussions could be West Sacramento and the Rivercats and what they've done there."

The Mayor's former chief of staff is Kunal Merchant.  He's Think Big's new director.  He says after the group talks with West Sacramento, the  number crunching will start.

MERCHANT: "We have to do some analysis.  We have to do a market analysis.  We have to see the economic benefits.  And, we have to talk more formally in terms of outreach with MLB and other folks."

Merchant says neither the Athletics nor Major League Baseball have been contacted.  Oakland Mayor Jean Quan says she's confident her city can keep the A's.
