Bryon Mason of Sacramento was arrested today for recklessly
setting the fire.
Investigators have not identified the actual device used to
start the fire, but are saying it is a pyrotechnic device.
That category includes fireworks and much larger and powerful
devices like m-80s.
Cal Fire's Daniel Berlant says investigators don't need to
prove Mason's intent for what they've charged him, "Any time you
have carelessness or recklessness, no matter what started it,
that's what you're going to get charged with."
Berlant says the investigation isn't over, "We're still
looking for the public's help. We still need other
individuals who may have been at the location where the fire
started at the time and we are asking those people to step forward
and provide our investigators with additional information."
The Robbers Fire started July 11. It has burned more
than 2600 acres and destroyed one home. It is 90 percent
contained.
This is the third arrest Cal Fire has made in the past
month.
