There is plenty of music planned. This is Grouplove, scheduled to play Saturday.  But the festival will feature dozens of artists and designers at the eight Midtown locations hosting the events.

Andrea Lepore of Hot Italian restaurant on 16th Street says she's happy to support a festival that celebrates new ways of doing things, "Well, there's furniture, there's jewelry, there's bike accessories, home goods, lightning, you know kind of, you name it.   It's all very, very cool."

This week, Hot Italian will showcase products designed by people from all over the country in a temporary display it calls a "pop up shop."

Matthew Lechowick (leck oh wick) with Dreyfuss and Blackford Architects says the biggest design feature of the festival is the pavilion…220-feet long and made of cardboard, "We found out how to get cardboard boxes to fold to be about four inches wide by eight-inches tall and then they're over seven-feet long. And, so we take each of those like a beam almost, like for wood, and then we punch holes in them and connect them. "

The festival's grand finale is Saturday with electro-funk group Chromeo headlining 12 hours of music played by 12 groups.

For the past three years, the event was a one-day affair on Del Paso Boulevard.  Organizers say the new, six-day festival will cost $100,000 - ten times as much as last year's.
