You can blame the heat wave on a high-pressure system moving toward the West Coast - the same one that baked the Midwest last week.
Brooke Bingaman - a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Sacramento - says it's going to get so hot, not even the Delta breeze will cool us down at night.
"That high-pressure, sometimes when it gets right over us it can kind of shut-down that Delta breeze because it kind of squishes the marine layer and so that moist, marine air doesn't have much room to actually filter into the Central Valley."
