Region In Store For Hot Spell

You can blame the heat wave on a high-pressure system moving toward the West Coast - the same one that baked the Midwest last week.

Brooke Bingaman - a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Sacramento - says it's going to get so hot, not even the Delta breeze will cool us down at night.

"That high-pressure, sometimes when it gets right over us it can kind of shut-down that Delta breeze because it kind of squishes the marine layer and so that moist, marine air doesn't have much room to actually filter into the Central Valley."

Temperatures will be 8-to-15 degrees above normal during this hot spell.
Bingaman expects the triple-digit heat to last through the weekend…with temperatures not dipping below 100 until next Monday.
