Sacramento Airport System Wants to Review Master Plan

Now that the new terminal with the big, red rabbit is complete, Sacramento County must decide what it will do next.  The current version of the master plan calls for construction of new runways, taxiways, and high-speed exits.  Those projects were part of the plan from 2007.

Linda Beech Cutler with the county says the travel climate has changed for the economy and with the airlines, "There's, you know, been acquisitions and mergers and so there really is a very different landscape, if you will, for planning both airline relationships as well as  passenger volume."

Cutler says the new master plan should also include the possible development of 190 acres near the airport and the possible effects of a new light rail line to the airport.
The County Board of Supervisors will vote Tuesday on the expenditure of $2 million for the update.  Half of that would come from airport fees.  Most of the rest is expected to come from $800,000 in federal grants
