Alexander Gonzalez gave his annual fall address this morning…ahead of the new semester which starts on Monday.

He talked about the "trigger" cuts that will go into effect if voters reject Proposition 30 - Governor Jerry Brown's tax initiative - in November.

Gonzalez says state funding for the California State University system would be reduced by $250 million.

"Now for our campus, all this means (is) that we had to prepare for more than $11 million in based-on reductions in case the initiative does not pass. Additionally, we're using reserves to cover another $9 million of the resulting campus deficit."

Gonzalez says he's also postponing some large campus projects to weather the trigger cuts if Proposition 30 fails.

Opponents of Prop 30 say not all of the money raised will be allocated to schools.
