About 70 seniors visited the Jene Wah Center in Stockton.
Pharmacy students from University of the Pacific helped them sort through the complexities of the Medicare Part D prescription plan.
And over the next couple of months almost 700 students like Zohal Fazel will go to 10 other locations in Northern California to offer similar help.
Fazel: "Being part of something like this is really giving back because they are going to save so much money on their insurance every year, I love making a difference."
Pat Fluetsch is having her Medicare plan evaluated along with her husband's and her mother's.
Fluetsch: "You really have to do this every year if you want to save money, you can't just turn 65, decide on a plan, and keep that plan year after year."
UOP estimated the student assistance program is helping each Part D participant save $630 per year.
