Perhaps one of the most contentious initiatives on
California's November ballot is a proposal to require food producers to label
genetically engineered food.
Proponents of Proposition 37 say genetically engineered food
is harmful to your health and consumers deserve the right to know
exactly what they're eating.
Opponents say genetically engineered food is harmless and a
new labeling requirement will make food producers favor more
expensive ingredients to avoid labels, which will drive up the cost
of food.
We're speaking with Senior Scientist at Pesticide Action
Network North America Marcia Ishii-Eitman, who supports Prop
37, and Director of Seed Biotechnology at UC Davis Kent
Bradford, who opposes the proposition.
