It was a wild weather day in the Sacramento region yesterday with a tornado, funnel cloud, hail, rain, snow in the mountains - and even spots of sunshine…

"There probably wasn't a type of weather that we didn't have yesterday except for a hurricane."

Brooke Bingaman is a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Sacramento. One confirmed tornado touched down in Yuba City around 3 PM yesterday…with downed power lines and damage to small structures.

A funnel cloud - and possible tornado - was spotted in Elk Grove near the intersection of Bradshaw and Grantline…with fences down, trees down and roof damage. Bingaman says they'll try to confirm today whether or not it was an actual tornado.

"Elk Grove - we have not been able to have a survey team go down there, however one will be assembled this morning. The priority is to go investigate the Elk Grove sighting as well as up at Lake of the Pines.

Lake of the Pines is north of Auburn…it's where another tornado is suspected. Bingaman says photos show a healthy looking funnel cloud.

Another wave of precipitation is expected to arrive overnight.

Bingaman says the National Weather Service office in Sacramento got several reports of a possible tornado…

"…one from a spotter, one from other people calling in stating that they saw a funnel cloud touchdown. We also got reports of damage in the Elk Grove area, close to the intersection of Bradshaw and Grantline - fences down, trees down and roof damage were also reported."

Bingaman says a survey team was able to get to Yuba City yesterday before it got dark to confirm that a tornado did touchdown there. The damage was primarily at the Mallard Lake Golf Center.

"They had damage on both on the golf course itself as well as some of the structures on the property. In addition, there were reports of downed power lines…100 miles-per-hour."

Bingaman says sunny skies should return to the area by Thursday.
