More than half of the county's registered voters have requested vote by mail ballots this election.  Assistant Registrar of voters Alice Jarboe says the county wants to make it easy for people to turn them in early:

Jarboe: "Four years ago the presidential turnout was really high. It was over 70-75 percent, so we're hoping to get at least that much if not more, and with a two-to-three card ballot, it's going to  be a lot of counting happening here in our office."

Jarboe says they've opened 14 sites where people can drop ballots off.  They include most city hall buildings, Mel Rapton Honda and the County Administration Office.  She says more than 3,000 people have already used them:

Jarboe: "People are getting used to using the drop-off sites, they're taking advantage of it.  It's really fun to see them coming in.  It's just exciting."

Jarboe says the long ballot requires more than one first class stamp, and the drop -off sites offer an alternative to paying for postage.
