Local transportation officials say Elk Grove has done a good job with its nearly 13-year-old bus system called e-tran. Now it's time to consider what's next…
"…especially in light of Regional Transit moving forward with the extension of the South Line, the Blue Line, down to Cosumnes River College."
That's Matt Carpenter. He's Transportation Services Director
for SACOG - the
Sacramento Area Council of Governments, an agency that handles
transportation planning for the region.
Having light rail at Cosumnes, near Elk Grove's city limits,
will likely mean changes to e-tran routes. SACOG and Elk Grove are
holding a public workshop tonight. They want to hear from people
about unmet needs for transit services, suggested bus routes and
other ideas.
"Hopefully the input at the workshop will help us figure
out what can be an efficient and sustainable transit system into
the future even in light of, of course, very challenging economic
times."
The open house is from 6 to 8 PM at the City of Elk Grove
Council Chambers.
