Sacramento gas prices have plummeted 25 cents in just a week. The average price is now just under four dollars a gallon. Peter DeHaan is an analyst with the website GasBuddy.com. He says the drop follows a steep increase that was caused by supply problems from this summer's refinery fire in Richmond… and more recently, an ExxonMobil facility that went offline because of hot weather:
DeHaan: "ExxonMobil got the power issues sorted out at their facility, brought it back online and that's why prices have dropped so sharply."
DeHaan says Hurricane Sandy may affect gas prices in the Northeastern part of the country, but not in California:
DeHaan: "That's not to say that prices can't go up period. It's not likely that they go up, but if they do, it has nothing to do with the Hurricane."
