Volunteers from the Red Cross and Sacramento State School of Nursing will be giving flu shots at three polling places.
They're part of a Sacramento County effort to make vaccinations as convenient as possible.
County Supervisor Phil Serna says the idea came from a desire to protect the health of the elderly - a population with a high propensity for voting.
SERNA: "You have a particular population that's going to report
to a polling place, why not take advantage of that situation and
offer a flu vaccination on site."
Two thousand inoculations will be available at:
Fruitridge Christian Church from 9:30am to 12noon.
…the Department of Voter Registration and Election from noon to 5pm.
..and at Sam Pannell Community Center from 9am to 8pm, or as long as supplies run out.
