The race for the Seventh Congressional District in California
is still too close to call. Ami Bera leads Dan Lungren by
almost 1800 votes.
As the current leader, Democratic Challenger Bera is confident
he won't be in the position of having to ask for a recount even
though his lead is less than one percent, "This momentum that
we're seeing will continue and that there….I don't imagine there
will be a need for anything like that."
The Lungren campaign hasn't broached the subject of a recount
either, but Campaign Manager Jeff Wyly is crunching the
numbers, "You know, math doesn't lie, I would say. And there's a
certain point where we get down to a small enough number still
outstanding and either, you know, we're up a certain amount or down
a certain amount. And we can just tell that the math either
is there or isn't there."
Wyly estimates there are about 70,000 of the 130,000
outstanding ballots that have votes affecting the race.
The Sacramento County Elections office says it will have an
updated count at three o'clock Tuesday afternoon.
